Amea // World Museum of Erotic Art was founded in 1996 by a small group of Dutch artists. The main site is up to this day offering lots of historical and contemporary erotic art exhibits, free for the world to enjoy.

Soon after it was founded, it was obvious there was a lot of demand for early erotic photography like French Postcards, Cheesecakes, late 19th and early 20th Century pornography. Keeping in mind that we were moving across the thin line of what is or what was considered to be 'erotic art' we decided to open an extra site devoted only to these categories.

Needless to say the site rapidly became an enormous success. Subscribing to this site was free and the program allowed so called 'deep linking' to pictures posted to this site which initiated a tremendous amount of user homepages with pictures that were hosted by AMEA.

Within months AMEA was generating so much data traffic, that we were forced to discontinue services. To solve this problem we decided to ask for a modest fee for a full year subscription to this site to balance our budget. Posters were excluded in this new restricted access policy. This never changed, so if you are a poster now who has an active subscription and you feel you should own a free account, do not hesitate to contact us.

Although we do update this site regularly, we feel that the posting members have made this site what it is today, a wonderful archive dedicated to the world of love, sex, photography and film.

We strongly believe that this site with over 15.000 pictures (still growing) is one of the best sites on the web for Vintage Erotic Photography.
